Description
Winner of many awards, ‘Stella de Oro’ is probably the most popular Daylily of all time and considered by many the finest Daylily ever. Why? Because it reblooms for months producing up to 400 magnificent, rich golden-yellow trumpets per season on a single mature plant. Stunning in groupings and mass plantings but is also nice as an accent in small garden spaces and pots. Hardy, permanent, and easy to grow, we’ve been growing the Stella De Oro Daylily since 1990 and have never seen a speck of rust on the foliage!Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing about 15 inches tall and gradually spreading to form a 24 inch wide clump, the Stella de Oro Daylily is ideal for use in groupings, mass plantings, or as a border along paths and walkways in landscape borders. Stunning in mass plantings on embankments, hillsides and slopes. Also nice as an accent or small grouping in small garden spaces or as a solo or mixed with other sun-loving plants in combination container gardens. A fine addition to daylily gardens, yellow theme gardens, perennial gardens and cottage gardens.Â
Suggested Spacing:Â 15-18 inches apart for mass plantings or as a solid border edger; 36 inches or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences
When planted right and in the right spot, Daylilies are exceptionally easy to grow. Though they will perform well in a wide range of soil types and conditions, they prefer a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Full to mostly sun is preferred however plants will tolerate some lightly filtered sun or shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering. Daylilies don’t require deadheading but the removal of spent flower scapes (stems) encourage heavier rebloom. When established, daylilies are moderately drought tolerant.

This company is wonderful. They did not have my right size of the Stella de Oro dylily plants so they sent the larger ones at no extra charge. Packing was fantastic and they are now beginning to bloom. I recommend them as the best nursery I have dealt with and that has been a bunch. ——— WBG Reply: Hi Mary Ann – Thanks so much for your compliments and taking the time to provide your review. It makes everything we do at Wilson Bros Gardens even more worthwhile! Glad to hear you’re getting to see the Stella de Oro’s bloom this soon after planting. Daylilies don’t require pruning, however, I always prune the spent flower scapes (stems)…doing so seems to encourage heavier rebloom. You might already know this but thought I’d mention it for others who might read this. Let us know if there’s ever anything else we can help you with. We’re at your service! – Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens
